Banjo: Recompiled is a native PC port of Banjo-Kazooie made with N64: Recompiled, which translates the game’s machine code into C automatically. It is drawn with the RT64 renderer.

It supports widescreen and ultrawide, high resolutions and frame rates, modern controllers and a mod menu.

The download contains no game data. It asks for a ROM dumped from your own copy of the game.

How to set it up

  1. Extract the whole archive to a folder you can write to.
  2. Run BanjoRecompiled.
  3. In the main menu, select your ROM of the US 1.0 version. Files in other formats than .z64 are converted automatically if they are the right ROM.
  4. On Steam Deck, extract the Linux build, then in Desktop Mode right-click the BanjoRecompiled executable and choose “Add to Steam”.
