Goemon 64: Recompiled is a native PC port of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. It is made with N64: Recompiled, which translates the game’s machine code into C automatically, and draws the game with the RT64 renderer, so it runs directly on your computer rather than through an emulator.

It supports any aspect ratio including ultrawide, high frame rates, low input lag, an in-game settings menu, and community mods and texture packs. Builds are available for Windows, Linux and macOS, and the Linux build runs on the Steam Deck.

It is still an early development release. The download contains no game data: it asks for a ROM dumped from your own copy of the North American version.

How to set it up

  1. Extract the whole archive to a folder you can write to.
  2. Run Goemon64Recompiled.
  3. In the main menu, select your ROM of the North American version. Files in other formats than .z64 are converted automatically if they are the right ROM.
  4. On Steam Deck, extract the Linux build, then in Desktop Mode right-click the Goemon64Recompiled executable and choose “Add to Steam”.
