Hexioum's Mario Party 9 Texture Pack
Hexioum redrew this pack’s textures by hand in Photoshop and Illustrator instead of running them through an upscaler. A handful of UI pieces were given a slightly stylised look, so they differ a little from the originals. The lettering was rebuilt from traced shapes rather than a stock font, which keeps it closer to the game’s own type, and the character renders were made in Blender.
The project began in 2017 and moved slowly for years before its first release. It targets the American release (SSQE01) only. In the notes for this release, a Spanish translation of the text was partly done, about a third of the cursors were finished (all of the pointing hands), and every round board space was redone while the star-shaped ones were still to come. Character renders were in progress, with Birdo the only one included, and a 4K version was planned.
The hosted download is in DDS format.
How to set it up
- In Dolphin, open File > Open User Folder, then go into
Load/Textures/. - Extract the download there, so you end up with a
Load/Textures/SSQ/folder. - Open Graphics > Advanced and tick Load Custom Textures. Ticking Prefetch Custom Textures too stops stutter, if you have the RAM for it.
